On the Money & How to Be Successful Guides
The largest analysis of local government spending ever undertaken is revealing huge variations in the amounts councils are being charged for the same item – up to a staggering 2,000% in some cases. Variations as extreme as this are rare but significant variations are common as the analysis, which has been specially commissioned by the RCEs, is beginning to show.
Based upon this intelligence, the RCE Procurement Programme has identified where councils can make quick wins in cashable savings and top quality guidance is being prepared to help them cut costs in these areas. Guides are available in the following areas and can be downloaded here

Local Government Energy Procurement Action Plan
The Local Government Energy Procurement Action Plan, launched in April 2007, has been developed to help authorities identify and manage the key areas that enable effective and efficient energy procurement. To date, 33 authorities in London have undertaken self assessments against the Action Plan, which has identified areas for improvement and helped authorities measure their progress against the London average. This toolkit is available for other authorities to use and can be accessed below.
