Project Objectives and Scope

One of three property construction projects resulting from the analysis done in Phase 1.

The major objective of the project is to identify the key stakeholders and set up a reliable communication route with them.

In order to do this the team intended to:-

  • Develop and maintain a key contacts database
  • Identify & develop an appropriate communication platform
  • Develop a specific web page through the South West Centre of Excellence
  • Identify key milestone points where key stakeholders & other interested parties should be engaged in construction and maintenance issues.
  • Develop a communication strategy to inform the key stakeholders of the progress of this project and to seek their advice and views.

Anticipated gains from the project

This has been classified as a “support” project, with the intention of facilitating improved service quality rather than substantial efficiency savings.

The development of a key contacts database has already proved beneficial in enabling networking between the Counties, Unitaries, in the SW. This will be of value both within the property services community and in contacts with client groups.

The development of website capability, as part of a national COPROP project, will provide a valuable tool for sharing of information and best practice and as the main channel of communication for the local authority construction community in the Region.

Wider implications and anticipated gains if it were successfully rolled out

This is already structured as a regional programme with the benefits of consistency and reduced duplication of approach. This programme also informs the work of the national Construction Workstream. The COPROP website will provide a national resource.

NOTE : other aspects of this project, in particular the development of Client Relationship Management models, were put “on hold” following the loss of the Project Leader for this work. They have now been cancelled with the approval of the COPROP SW Programme Board, with team members giving greater emphasis to other aspects of the Construction Programme – notably the work on Cost & Performance Management.
