Business Transformation Local BPI Guidance

A detailed study describing the methodology used for process improvement work in Carrick DC’s Benefits service, along with shorter comparative studies of similar exercises at Torridge DC and Stroud DC.

SW RIEP is pleased to make available this Guidance on ‘Local BPI’ (Business Process Improvement). The document was commissioned from Alan Fryer, an independent consultant who has led the process improvement work for Carrick District Council in their Benefits Service during 2006/7. The document describes the BPI approach used at Carrick, and also provides a detailed case study of the issues uncovered and the ways they were overcome. Briefer case studies of process improvement work at Stroud DC and Torridge DC (who have both used the Vanguard approach) are also included, and comparisons drawn.

The Appendices, which are drawn from the work at Carrick DC, are supplied as separate files. These are hyperlinked from the main document and are also directly available.
