Advisory Support for Business Transformation

An advisory support service.

SW RIEP is offering a ‘support service’ for Business Transformation, making its Business Transformation advisers available to councils free of charge. The service complements the Business Improvement Package (BIP) developed jointly by SW RIEP and CLG, and the SW RIEP's Business Transformation Skills Development programme.

The scope of the support service includes:

  • The Business Transformation life cycle (Vision – Strategy – Business Case – Solution Design – Procurement – Implementation – Review)
  • Business Process Improvement projects (large and small) as well as Shared Services projects
  • Change Management (including Programme and Project Management)
  • Skills development (including subsidised training course to be offered by SW RIEP from the Autumn)
  • Access to sources of further information
  • Access to sources of support and capacity.

The SW RIEP adviser is available to answer your telephone or e-mail enquiries and/or visit your council in person to:

  • Brief you about business improvement opportunities and shared services approaches
  • Help you to shape your ideas and articulate your vision
  • Point you to relevant guidance, templates and case studies
  • Assist you with identifying appropriate methodologies
  • Put you in touch with others who are pursuing similar projects to you, or who have gone before you
  • Give practical help with procuring consultancy support
  • Help you establish the right governance arrangements for your programme
  • Act as a mentor to your change manager / programme manager
  • Act a ‘critical friend’ at your project and programme boards
  • Act a reviewer for documents you produce.
