Role of Members for Officers

To develop and pilot a one day course for middle managers who may have contact with elected members in order that they may better appreciate the role of members, their pressures and the support that they can give.

To ensure officers had a clearer understanding of the role and responsibilities of the members of the Fire and Rescue Authority (FRA). As Steve Yates (D&S FRS) described it, “To engage in some ‘Myth busting’ as to whom these people are and what they do”. Through this approach officers’ frustrations about not having access to elected members would be reduced and the middle managers’ role in providing an interface with elected members would be improved.
