Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) Foundation Course

Managing Successful Programmes is the de facto standard developed by the UK government for delivering change programmes in the UK the latest version was released in September 20007. This is the 3 day approach to gaining the Foundation qualification. It is an intense course that will require delegates to prepare thoroughly and be prepared for evening work throughout the course. The course includes the Foundation examination and prepares delegates for the Practitioner and the Advanced Practition

We also offer this course as a council specific, on-site business transformation skills courses. The costs, structure, numbers and format of the on-site courses (e.g. numbers limited to 12-15 per day) will mirror the public courses, with the key difference that wherever possible the on-site courses will be tailored to meet the requirements of the council-specific project.

There is a need for a fair and transparent prioritisation mechanism in anticipation of large demand – see our on-site section for further details on prioritisation and how to apply.

The course includes the Foundation examination and prepares delegates for the Practitioner and the Advanced Practitioner should they wish to move on to those levels.

Who should attend?

This course builds on our MSP overview course and is targeted at anyone involved in, or responsible for change programmes who wish to gain a qualification including for example:

  • Programme leader
  • Programme office staff
  • Business change managers
  • Operations staff involved in change programmes

What are the learning outcomes?

  • Gain a thorough understanding of the basic concepts within Managing Successful Programmes
  • Understand in detail the stages of the Transformational Flow
  • Review key tools and techniques that are required to deliver a successful programme
  • Understand the concepts and application of the MSP Governance Themes
  • Practice application of MSP concepts in local authority context through case study reviews, interactive experience with trainers who are practicing MSP Registered Consultants and are working in the public sector arena on a daily basis
  • Obtain APMG foundation qualification

What is the cost?

The course is extensively subsidised at an amazing value price of £182.15 per delegate, inclusive of course material and exam fees, but excluding accommodation.

Please note that the course materials and manual from the MSP Foundation Course will be needed if you wish to progress to the Practitioner Course.

Lunch and refreshments are included in the delegate price for our public venues.

Councils will need to provide venue, lunches and refreshments for delegates and trainer(s) for on-site courses.
