The SWCoE are launching a project to introduce a contract and opportunities portal for the region. The portal will be fully funded by the centre for a fixed period and available for use by all 51 Local Authorities in the SW.
Some local authorities are actively using their own contract database as a tool to control spend, the use of a regional tool provides additional benefits over and above the local control of spend.
- Enable Councils to identify opportunities for joint working and collaboration.
- Benchmark existing and future arrangements.
- Easy Search Facilities across all Participating Councils
In addition the Opportunities function brings benefits for both councils and suppliers; the service is completely free for suppliers to use, and councils can potentially reduce on contract opportunities advertising cost in local press and media.
Multi Region Information
The database has the additional benefit of being able to link to other contract databases – initially the South East but potentially the North West and others, providing even wider contract information.
