OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE: Sustainable Supply Chains Pilot Programme Forum for the Future & Carbon Disclosure Project Collaboration

The Carbon Disclosure Project is collaborating with Forum for the Future to offer a sustainable procurement programme which will give public sector organisations a valuable new insight into carbon risks, liabilities and opportunities in the supply chain. As part of CDP’s Public Procurement

Leadership Collaboration (PPLC) the two organisations have designed a programme that combines participation in the CDP PPLC with a range of benefits including:

  • sustainable procurement benchmarking, action planning and practical training
  • help making concrete progress with sustainable procurement
  • help prioritising key suppliers for carbon disclosure and developing an understanding of how carbon disclosure information can be used in procurement decision making and supplier management.

By being a demanding and intelligent customer, the public sector has the potential to stimulate sustainable economic development through its procurement decisions, reaping environmental and social benefits for both local and global communities. Working with suppliers to address key challenges, such as preventing dangerous climate change is an important part of achieving this goal - but is not without its own challenges.

We're offering five public sector organisations a chance to work with Forum for the Future and the Carbon Disclosure Project to make make real progress with their own sustainable procurement, and at the same to explore this challenge - to get to grips with the practical reality of driving improvement in public sector supply chains.

The attached brochure outlines the work programme and its key benefits. A brief application form for participants is also attached. If you have any questions about the programme, and how it might work for your organisation, contact:

If you are interested in participating but having difficulties with the tight timescale please let us know. The timescale has primarily been set to enable participants to have real supplier data to work with during the programme and also to avoid popular holiday periods.
