Halving Waste to Landfill

The Strategy for Sustainable Construction, launched by Government and the Strategic Forum for Construction in June 2008, sets a target for the construction industry to halve construction, demolition and excavation waste going to landfill by 2012. In support, WRAP has developed a framework for voluntary action to achieve this target across the construction sector and its clients. A series of workshops will take place across the UK to support this. The workshops will cover all of the processes and tools that are critical to successfully adopting and delivering the Halving Waste to Landfill agreement. A south west workshop will take place in Bristol on 10 December 2008.

Transforming the Delivery of Public Care through Commissioning Outcome Focused Services – 5 December 2008, Taunton Race Course, Somerset

Developing outcome focused services is a key element of the Transforming Social Care agenda. To effectively implement the personalisation agenda, will there need to be a link to outcomes - with support being defined not by volume of services delivered, but rather on the good that they achieve in meeting the needs of service users?

This learning event is aimed at commissioners and provider organisations in the region, to support them to transform services by implementing an outcome-based approach.

The event will look at commissioning, contracting and delivering for outcomes. We will explore practical approaches being developed by commissioners and providers to deliver services which meet required outcomes for populations, service user groups and individuals. The day will be very participative, with presentations of best practice interspersed with opportunities for you to think about and discuss the issues.

The learning event will start at 10.00am and finish at 2.45pm. There is no charge to attend.
