What the Sexual Orientation Workshop offers delegates:
- Knowledge of what best practice looks like when working with issues around sexual orientation in line with current legislation
- An understanding of how to best promote inclusive practice when working with members of the 'L, G & B community' both in and out of the workplace
- A networking event & opportunity to share best practice with individuals working with these issues in similar organisations.
A summary of what the day will cover:
- Societal attitudes to sexual orientation past & present
- The impact of heterocentrism on individuals & organisations
- How to support gay & bisexual colleagues effectively & appropriately
- Legislation regarding sexual orientation & how this affects the activities of local authorities
- Scenarios - identifying what best practice looks like & planning a way forward
