At either end of the spectrum, younger or older people face exclusion, discrimination and disadvantage, which the law has but started to address.

This workshop will provide delegates with:

  • Understanding of stereotypes and assumptions about older, younger people
  • Knowledge of the law on Age Discrimination and future legislation
  • Knowledge of the discrimination and disadvantage faced both by older and younger people
  • An understanding of best practice on age issues in employment
  • An opportunity to share good practice on age equality.

A summary of what the day will cover:

  • Examples of good practice in consulting and engaging older and younger people
  • Demographic information on the issues for older and younger people in the south west
  • Quiz on the realities of stereotypes on age
  • Networking and sharing good practice in challenging ageism
  • Contributor from Older Persons forum.
