The Government Office for the South West invites you to attend the second Public Sector Food and Drink Procurement event for the South West of England.
This conference will be hosted by South West Food and Drink in association with Gloucestershire Food Vision and f3.
The Conference builds on the success of the first such event held in June 2008, picking up on key themes and incorporating specific topics highlighted by delegate feedback. It brings together key individuals from across the region involved in the policy and practice of sustainable food procurement within the public sector. We are delighted to confirm the key speakers will be:
Mike Tiddy, Category Manager Food, OGC
Bill Kirkup, Programme Co-ordinator, North East Improvement and Efficiency Partnership
Professor Kevin Morgan, Professor of European Regional Development, Cardiff University
Pim Vermeulen, Senior Urban Planner, Dept of Physical Planning, City of Amsterdam
The programme will cover approaches and solutions to issues of sustainable public sector food procurement, and will include presentations on:
The OGC Food Commodity Quality Standards
Collaborative Food Procurement and Efficiency
Public Food and the Challenge of Sustainable Development
Proeftuin Amsterdam – The Amsterdam Food Strategy
The morning will be based on a plenary session with Q&A, followed by a locally sourced buffet lunch, when you will have the opportunity to talk directly with the speakers and network with colleagues and fellow delegates.
The afternoon will provide the opportunity to attend practical workshops covering case studies and exemplars in best practice in Sustainable Food and Drink Procurement from across the South West region and beyond.
The venue is the Prince Consort Hall at the Winter Gardens in Weston Super Mare.
